Burnout and Mindfulness: Seeking Resilience
Stress, frustration, isolation, low motivation…. we’ve all been there. Working in healthcare as an SLP can be challenging and taxing. We are helpers in a helping profession. Add in a dash of COVID pandemic with social/physical distancing and you get a recipe for burnout.
My goal with the talk on “Burnout & Mindfulness: Seeking Resilience” is twofold. First, I want to present simple mindful tools you can implement in your life. Second, I want to open a discussion with participants to address the merits of the various mindful practices. Hopefully this leads to provision of tips and recommendations that participants have found useful in their own practice of mindfulness. I hope we hear from a diverse selection of SLPs across the continuum of practice: graduate students to seasoned professionals.
what is the c3e?
The Courageous Clinician Community Event (C3E) is the brainchild of 4 Medical SLPs dedicated to opening opportunities for clinicians to communicate, collaborate, and change practice patterns.
Brooke Richardson, Hannah Grassie, JoAnn Vela, and Leigh Ann Porter envision a gathering of curious Med SLPs who want to actively engage in professional development while building a community of supportive colleagues.
The inaugural C3E is “Shaping Competence Through Collaboration in a Healthcare Setting” and features 4 interactive talks with three panel discussions featuring leaders in the Med SLP space.
