Ashley is a board-certified specialist and the lead SLP at Houston Methodist Continuing Care Hospital. She has worked as a speech-language pathologist for almost a decade and has experience working with both children and adults in various pathways of practice – with a passion for helping patients acquired brain injury and iatrogenic dysphagia. 

Ashley is a 2019 graduate of ASHA's Leadership Development Program (LDP) and an inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Early Career Professional (ECP) Certificate in 2018. She currently serves as the vice president of social media for the Hispanic Caucus and is a previous S.T.E.P. mentor. She has been a guest speaker for several universities and presented at her state and local associations. In 2020, Ashley began serving as site visitor for the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) and serves on the Professional Development Committee as well the acting CE Content Manager for ASHA’s SIG13 (swallowing and swallowing disorders). 

Ashley has also endeavored to learn and promote dynamic and diverse leadership in the field. She has obtained formal leadership training through her employer, facilitated new initiatives within her department, and is currently working on an MBA with a concentration in hospital administration.
