153: Brain Injury Program Development with Allison Frederick, M.S., CCC/SLP, CBIST
Allison discusses the importance of person-centered program development for folks with acquired brain injury, and empowering all clinicians to work on developing and implementing programs. Program development is not just for managers, administrators, and ‘seasoned’ clinicians - on-the-ground and ‘newer’ clinicians can do it too!
Key Takeaway:
Identify a gap, make a plan and work on filling it with some person-centered programs.

Guest Speaker Bio:
I have been practicing as an SLP for 16 years exactly - I spent the first 3.5 years working in SNF/LTC and then transitioned to acute rehabilitation, where I have spent the last 12.5 years (and counting). I got my BS in Speech Pathology from Bloomsburg University in 2005, and completed my MS at Bloom as well in 2007. I recently started working on my SLPD at Northwestern in Evanston this past June. I’m the team leader for my IPR’s Joint Commission’s DSC team for Brain Injury, and thoroughly enjoy performance improvement and program development. I joined ARC Seminars in 2019, and have been teaching the CBIS Exam Prep Course with them since 2020. My goal with teaching the CBIS Exam Prep Course through ARC is to make this type of education accessible to more clinical professionals, and empower people to take the leap into ABI treatment and improve the quality of care for persons recovering from and living with acquired brain injury.
