On episode 15, J.M. Reyes sits down to talk about the creative process of making memes and therapy materials. If you’re on instagram then it’s highly likely you follow @slpmemes. With a following of over 34.5 thousand people and over 900 posts (as of May 2019), I think it’s safe to say that J.M. owns the SLP internet. His brand of memes are an uncensored look at our profession and an unapologetic stab at the status quo.
We ponder the rewards of seeking job satisfaction in areas outside of the actual job - like creating memes, hosting a podcast, and generating therapy materials. ;-)

J.M’s “artisanal adult-cognition materials” are functional, visually appealing, and target executive function, sustained attention, scanning, and numerical reasoning skills. I downloaded his freebie and started using it with patients right away. I liked how it used a relatable, functional task (medication management) to target problem solving skills and visuospatial skills. I was so impressed with the freebie, I went back to the store and bought everything else!
